Steam Spring Sale 2020

Featuring demos of new & upcoming games, available to download and play for a limited time! Spring event is not a sale, it's an event which spurs people to (re)play games already owned. Of course some publishers will make games available, but that doesn't make it a Valve organised themed sale.

Right now, Steam is running its Spring Cleaning Event, which unlike other events, isn't trying to get players to purchase new games. In fact, it's doing quite the opposite, as it asks players to go back into their library of older games and check out some of those instead, which many long time Steam users will likely have quite a few of.

Joining in on the fun is Dewey, a sort of AI designed to give players recommendations on which games to play. Users have a house with various sub-levels, which looks similar to Fallout Shelter's layout. On each level, players are given three options for games to play, each one with a theme. For instance, one level is 'Old Flame,' which tasks players with going back into a game they used to play but have fallen off of.

Other levels feature random games, games the user recently purchased, and more. It's an interesting concept, and certainly, one that gamers may want to use. PC gaming memes often bring up vast libraries of games, with most of them remaining mostly untouched. A lot of that stems from things like Steam Sales, which allow players to buy tons of games at low costs.

When

It appears that the recommendations change each time users reload the store, so those looking to earn the Spring Cleaning badge can exit the store then return if they don't like the games that are being recommended. Users with larger libraries are pretty likely to have a few more surprises in store for them, which certainly makes the entire ordeal a bit more exciting.

Competition between PC distribution platforms has increased greatly in the last few years. Epic has launched the Epic Games Store, which has been the biggest competition for Steam, and GOG has launched GOG Galaxy, which allows players to connect their accounts and use it as a universal launcher. It's convenient, and it has GOG's store built into it.

Steam Spring Sale 2020 Countdown

The Spring Cleaning event is running from now until May 28th at 10 am PST, so those that want to earn the badge should have quite a bit time to earn it. All it takes is launching a game for the event to count that level as complete, so progress should move quickly.
