Using a three pedal system, the Solo self-adjusting clutch is used only for starting and stopping. Once the vehicle is in motion, AutoShift operates like an automatic transmission, with the efficiency of a manual transmission.

In this manner, what is Eaton UltraShift?

It's the same basic transmission — a 10-speed based on Eaton's tried-and-true B-ratio mechanical box — but the clutch pedal has disappeared. The new UltraShift is available with four torque capacities from 1050 to 1650 lb ft. It incorporates an inertia brake that speeds automated upshifts and serves as a clutch brake.

How to service the clutch on an Eaton Fuller 10 speed

First you will need to push the clutch in and start the truck. Next make sure the tractor parking brake is released to do this push the yellow valve in. Then put the truck in first gear all the way left and back. Slowly release the clutch to see when the truck starts to move you should have about an inch and a quarter of free travel. If there is less you need to adjust the clutch.

Next you need to do is make sure the tractor parking air brakes are set. Do this by pulling the diamond shaped yellow valve on the dashboard. Make sure the brakes are set! Then block the wheels off to also prevent the truck from rolling.

Simply remove the dust cover from the bell housing of the transmission using a 1/2in. 6point socket on a 3/8inch ratchet. Then inspect the inside of the housing for dirt and grease. Clean the inside of the housing out well.

Now you will need to look for the 11/16inch adjusting bolt on the clutch. If you can’t see it have the person helping you turn the key for a second to spin the clutch. Repeat this step until you can see the adjustment nut at the very bottom of the bell housing.

Then using an 11/16in. 6 point socket and a pry bar put the socket on the nut and pry on the ratchet pushing it into the clutch. Turn the ratchet clockwise to make the clutch tighter. Turn counter clockwise to loosen the clutch.

Turn the ratchet a few turns at a time then tell the person in the truck to check the adjustment. If you went too far back it off a few turns. If its not far enough turn it a few more turns and check the free travel until there in and inch and a ¼ of free travel.
